Rwanda Launches Energy Access Explorer to Guide Electricity Investment
On 28 October 2026, Rwanda introduced the Energy Access Explorer platform to combine information on electricity supply, demand, infrastructure and population needs to help guide investment decisions. The launch took place during the Open Source in Energy Access Symposium in Kigali on 26 October, where officials reported that 11.7% of the population remained without electricity. No separate platform development cost was disclosed. Technology providers, utilities and development organisations can explore geospatial analytics, energy-demand forecasting and digital infrastructure; HPC can support large-scale data processing and analytical workloads, with quotations available for confirmed requirements.
